     Joyce Evelyn Allen was born on 30 December 1924 at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.¹ She married Columbus Clark Cockerham, son of Corbett C Cockerham and Nellie Bruce McCann, on 26 February 1944 at Quantico, Prince William County, Virginia.² Joyce Evelyn Allen died on 26 May 2006 at Franklin County, North Carolina, at age 81.
     Her married name was Cockerham.

     Gertrude Mary Cox was born on 13 January 1900 at Dayton, Webster County, Iowa. She died on 17 October 1978 at North Carolina at age 78.
     She earned a batchelor of science degree in math from Iowa State University in 1929 and an M.S. in statistics in 1931. She left Iowa for two years to study at the University of California at Berkeley, but returned to assist George Snedecor with the new Statistical Laboratory. She was an assistant professor of statistics at Iowa State in 1939 and then moved to N.C. State College in 1940 and became the first department head of its Department of Statistics; she was the first female department head at N.C. State and the first female professor (of any rank) there. She retired from NCSU in 1960, but meanwhile she established or contributed to establishing other statistical institutions in the university system and Research Triangle Institute and the International Biometric Society.

     Arnold Herbert Edward Grandage was also known as Dick Grandage. Hired in 1952, he was a professor of statistics at North Carolina State University for more than 30 years and was instrumental in setting up the computer lab on campus in Patterson Hall. After retirement, he enjoyed sailing and was a consummate reader. After retirement he and Dorothy moved from Raleigh, N.C., to Bloomsburg, Charlottesville, Va., then Harrisonburg, Va., and finally to Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain, N.C. As of 1954, Arnold Herbert Edward Grandage was also known as Dr Arnold Herbert Edward Grandage. He earned a Ph.D. at North Carolina State College in 1954 Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. His dissertation topic was "Biological Assay of a Material when Interfering Substances are Present."¹

     Dorothy Catherine Beishline was born on 25 November 1922 at Benton, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. She married Arnold Herbert Edward Grandage, son of Herbert Grandage. Dorothy Catherine Beishline died on 4 December 2014 at Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 92.

     Dorothy Freeman was born on 30 July 1923. She married William Vassill Green Jr. Dorothy Green died on 2 August 2016 at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, at age 93.
     Dorothy Green was also known as Dorothy Freeman. She and her husband operated a dairy farm, Green's Dairy, on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh, where they raised four children. She was employed by the North Carolina State University Department of Statistics for more than 25 years.

     Alva Leroy Finkner was born on 8 May 1917 at Akron, Washington, Colorado. He died on 3 December 2010 at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, at age 93.
     He earned degrees in agronomy from Colorado State College (BA, 1938) and Kansas State College (MS, 1940) and a PhD in Experimental Statistics at North Carolina State University (1950). He was with the USDA Statistical Reporting Service from 1940 to 1960 and head of its Raleigh Research Office from 1946 to 1960. He was associate professor, professor and adjunct professor in the Experimental Statistics Department of NCSU from 1950 to 1983. He joined RTI International in 1960, retiring as Senior Vice President in 1983. As of 1950, Alva Leroy Finkner was also known as Dr Alva Leroy Finkner.
     Alva Leroy Finkner was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Major. From 1950 to 1970 he was a member of the U.S. Air Force Operations Analysis Standby Unit and from 1967 to 1970 a member of the National Defense Executive Reserve.

His thesis title was "An analysis of supply and demand factors affecting the prices of U.S. late onions".. He was a student at the graduate school at N.C. State University, Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, between 1957 and 1959. In the dept. of Experimental Statistics.⁴ He was the librarian for the biomathematics library circa 1980. Fu-Tseng Wang lived at 13 Bagwell Ave., Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.
